Welcome to The Gravel Collective.

Our mission is to build a gravel community centering historically excluded groups that may identify as: FTWNB, BIPOC, and para-athletes. We do this by providing workshops, social events, and group rides that cultivate a safe, uplifting environment.

Our goal is to reduce barriers and make gravel cycling more accessible for all.

Our Story

Devin McQuaig

Devin McQuaig (she/her) is the founder of The Gravel Collective. and Houston Gravel Collective . After picking up gravel cycling during the pandemic, she quickly became hooked. Devin was selected to attend the Rooted Vermont Women’s Clinic in June 2021. Immediately upon returning to Houston she got started on making the collective in Houston with an overall mission of getting more bodies on gravel bikes - especially historically excluded groups like FTWNB, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and para-athletes.

By Spring of 2022, The Gravel Collective had grown to welcome in San Antonio and Austin, TX with another collective in Rochester, NY. In June, Devin returned to the Rooted Vermont Women’s clinic to pay it forward as a mentor. She spoke about building community and helped lead a talk and ride about bikepacking. Her goal is to grow The Gravel Collective to a national scale and is in the process of making it a non-profit.

In July 2022, The Gravel Collective officially became a 501(c)3 non-profit. By the end of the year, Phoenix, Philadelphia, and the Everglades joined as new chapters of The Gravel Collective. Our membership continues to grow as many of us are looking for more inclusivity, diversity, and outright fun in cycling.

There’s much more to come!
